Interpersonal networking and conversation with fellow creatives can be highly beneficial for professional and social connection. We champion an inclusive art experience by providing supportive, informative opportunities that encourage community between fellow artists and the public. Through these engagin events ArtSpan creates a platform for artists to thrive, share and relate with each other.


Artist Mixers are free to attend for ArtSpan Artists. Members are provided a promo code in their weekly Artist Opportunities newsletter to apply and receive their membership discount. Members may also email [email protected] to receive the promo code. 

Non-members of the General Public are welcome to join these events for a $10 single-event fee or become an Artist Member to attend all our Artist Programs throughout the year for the annual fee of $50.

Expand your engagement with art and fuel your creative practice by joining fellow ArtSpan Artists at the Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco (ICA SF). Experience three different exhibitions that push the conceptual boundaries regarding our planet, femme-noir leisure and hyperlocal creative networks. Inspirational worksheets will be provided to spark your imagination and to be applied to your artistic endeavors. This is our first Artist Mixer visiting a museum in-person in over 2 years!

Artist Tool Talk: The Human Hand from an Artist Perspective

Depicting a realistic and well proportioned hand is a huge challenge for most artists. It can define the quality of your work. Join ArtSpan for an online presentation with Q&A featuring guest speaker Marilyn Ines Rodriguez. Marilyn will provide a thorough review of fundamental anatomical knowledge from relative proportions and bone landmarks, to the minute details of the skin folds. This valuable insight is imperative knowledge for all artists desiring to learn how to render a more refined, artful and graceful human hand (including but on limited to sketch artists, illustrators, painters, sculptors, etc.)

Artist Tool Talk: Meditation for Creative Focus

By turning awareness inward, toward compassion for ourselves and acceptance of what is, meditation not only brings to the surface what we might not otherwise see, but can also help us find ease, inspiration, clarity, focus, intuition, authenticity, freedom from unhealthy thinking, motivation, and insight. Artist Silvi Alcivar will provide info on what meditation is and how, in as little as five to ten minutes a day, a consistent meditation practice can influence not just an artist’s life but also their art.

Artist Mixer: Embossed Printmaking at Jill Andre's SF Studio

LOCATION: 2301 Harrison Street, San Francisco, CA

Learn easy techniques to create unlimited color prints from just one drawing by embossing a simple image onto a 4x6 foam plate. Fine artist Jill Andre will explore color relationships, print layering, and mark making during an in-person demonstration at Jill's San Francisco studio location. This social gathering affords the opportunity to meet and spend time with fellow creatives. Each participant is invited to be present for connection while finding insightful inspiration. This event is open to all levels of artistic practice but space and supplies limit attendance to preregistered guests.

Artist Tool Talk: Boothy for Virtual sfos
Wednesday, September 28, 2022 6:30-7:30pm

Location: Online via Zoom

Boothy connects artists with customers in a face-to-face interaction using live video and text chat. Online visitors can browse through multiple SFOS artist booths on a single event page and click to enter any virtual booth to connect directly with the artist.  As a benefit of registering to participate in ArtSpan's 2022 SF Open Studios season, artists are eligible to participate (at no additional cost) in ArtSpan’s Virtual SFOS event on Wednesday, October 26 from 5-7pm PT hosted on Boothy, BoothCentral’s updated platform. ArtSpan will host this Artist Tool Talk held on Zoom to introduce what Boothy is and how to create your Boothy account to participate in Virtual SF Open Studios.
