ARTSPAN'S MISSION:

ArtSpan, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is committed to cultivating a vibrant, accessible, and world-class art community in San Francisco and to promoting the city's unique creative energy locally and globally. We champion an inclusive art experience by providing hundreds of local artists with the equal opportunity to showcase their work and make direct connections to diverse audiences and patrons. We are guided by the belief that artists play a vital role in society and that broad public engagement with their work is essential to defining a new cultural environment for our changing city.

PROGRAMS:

SF Open Studios is an annual, month-long art event in October and November that showcases over 800 emerging and established San Francisco artists in their studios.

Nested with the citywide SF Open Studios event, Youth Open Studios provides young artists under age 18 to exhibit their work on Saturday of each SFOS weekend.

ArtSpan partners with local businesses and building owners to fill all corners of the city with vibrant, locally made artwork, celebrated with free public artist receptions.

ArtSpan produces workshops and discussions to aid artists with the professional side of their art practice.

ArtSpan has partnered with local developers and property owners to create artist studios in buildings that are in transition or underutilized.

ArtSpan's Art Curious series aims to demystify the process of building an art collection, provide exposure to original art made here in San Francisco, and cultivate a space for learning and living with art.

ArtSpan produces Artist Mixer events throughout the year to give San Francisco artists a chance to meet, mingle, and make art with each other.

ArtSpan invites the public to participate in art-making activities at community events and helps beautify the San Francisco landscape with large-scale murals and public art.
