Monica Loncola
Working in series, I create works of a singular subject or a composite of images connected by a theme. Metaphor plays prominent role in my process. I love to experiment with techniques and materials. My studio practice is meditative process where I let my intuition guide me. I’m particularly interested in fractal patterns found in nature.
I find myself stopped in my tracks by a guttural pull to create a picture of what's before me.
In some works, I’ve added relief using fabric and raw materials juxtaposed with images of my original illustrations. The contrast of flat illusion and sculptural texture on the same plane is a new direction for me. The finished works are a personal meditation on a conscious and sub conscious level. My intention is to share with the viewer my personal space of observation.
