Mel Nothern is a sculpture artist from Los Angeles, California. Nothern lives and works in the Bay Area of California and is completing her MFA in Studio Art at San Francisco State University. Using materials such as glass, candy, and light, Nothern explores the ephemerality of life and memory, and the futility of our compulsion to capture it. In her work, materials become an analogy for the impossibility of holding onto significant moments as they rapidly fade into the past.
