Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. A graduate of Glasgow School of Art. Larson now works from her studio at Hunters Point Shipyard in San Francisco— where the dramatic skies, the sea, and the urban interface of a dilapidated industrial landscape and nature's struggle to recover this space are a source of inspiration.
Larson layers multiple glazes of oil paint on smooth aluminum or wooden panels. In an attempt to create another frame of consciousness, an in-between place. Almost like the moment of diving underwater and experiencing another world hidden all the time, just beneath the surface.
Larson's process ultimately is one of exploration: a search for depth, mystery, and a heightened reality for painter and viewer both.
Larson previously worked in illustration, ceramics, and education.
