“I follow inspiration. I honor instinct.
My work begins with a vision that is borne of emotional states - love, devotion, heartache, longing.
I am inspired by antique ephemera. I have a tactile and vibrational relationship with the materials - I am guided by their energetic signature, the hands that held them before, and the experiences and emotional states of their previous owners. They speak, and I listen.
My work is a magical collaboration between my inner experience and the nonphysical information embedded in these objects, which results in a living artwork that can be experienced visually, emotionally and spiritually. It is purposely imbued with energy - channeled and alive.
Through this process I am transformed, the materials are transmuted, and the viewer is transfigured.”
Elizabeth Zbytniewski is a collage and mixed media artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. Her work focuses on antique and vintage papers and ephemera.
