Davey Whitcraft is a media artist working in video, NFT and digital/dye-sublimation printing. His work is concerned with how light is experienced in space. Whitcraft is inspired by the American West’s vast visuality of light and space.

He holds an MFA from the University of California at Los Angeles. Davey is currently pursuing a PhD which investigates machine vision and visual theory.

His work has been included in numerous museum exhibitions including MOCA in Los Angeles, California, SF MOMA, LA Architecture + Design Museum, San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, Godwin-Ternbach Museum NY and the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana, Slovenia and national and international exhibitions including Subliminal Projects, Los Angeles, California, 323 Projects Los Angeles, California, Rietveld Art Academy, Amsterdam, Netherlands, One-Off Moving Image Festival, Copenhagen Denmark, Yami-ichi, Brussels, Belgium, London West Gallery, London, England and the Leap Second Festival, Norway.

Davey’s practice is rooted in observation, translation and conversation, and has benefited from a wide range of methods and processes, including teaching (Otis College of Art and Design, University of the Arts Utrecht, Pratt Institute, Parsons The New School and California College of the Arts), writing and learning.
