Inspired by music and Asian lore, I create art that celebrates the creativity and courage of women. My current projects focus on 1) amplifying composers who identify as Asian women and 2) educating the community about powerful female figures in Chinese mythology. My process at the beginning of each creation consists of charting unexplored questions, delving into cross-disciplinary research, and writing reflections that manifest into a tapestry of world-building. At the climax, I bring to life the speculative worlds percolating within my imagination through hand-mixed paints and color shapers which I use to carve intricate designs symbolizing hope, perseverance, and resilience. As a Chinese-American creator and educator, I aim to inspire wonder in the audience by inviting them to "listen" to the stories of powerful, creative Asian women through my art.
