My personal style has been influenced by architecture from the beginning. Many of my teachers at university had backgrounds in architecture, and some of my favorite artists, like Lebbeus Woods, started as architects themselves. Most recently, my work has been focused on how change and chaos relate to these static elements of architecture. Living in San Francisco since 2020, I’ve been surrounded and inspired by Victorian architecture. Since then, I have been collecting modular elements of these structures, and using them as a vocabulary to collage new figures. Shaped into fantastical forms and surreal structures, the original components calcify into a greater whole, and simultaneously celebrate the Victorian architectural style and completely do away with it.
