Jewelry Art by Valerie Valentina I create products that make you feel good. My first exposure to the art and the creative process of designing clothing, designs and fashion emanated from my mother who was a seamstress in San Francisco. It started with hours of watching her, then helping her and finally developing my own ideas that blossomed into my own line of clothing and Jewelry. The best inheritance that I could have received from my mother was the joy and love of the craft that fuels my passion for creating. Through out the years of manifesting my creations into tangible product, my library of merchandise has expanded from Jewelry to high fashion women’s wear, swimwear, a men’s line of casual clothing, purses and handbags, an embroidery line of products and accessories that compliment my creations. They say that necessity is the byproduct of invention and my Lil’ Fox Wear is an example of the philosophy. One day while in San Francisco I noticed while walking my canine family members that they were shivering because of the cold weather along the water. This sparked my creative juices and initiated my line of practical clothing for dogs. I am proud to say that this is a special line for me because I can now rest assured that they are as warm and comfortable as I am with exposed to the elements of the sometimes-cold San Francisco Weather. The first visual that one sees in a person gives you and overall feeling of that person. Their smile is definitely in the equation. Their clothing and shoes will surely give you an idea of that person’s style and inner-spirit. However, the polish, or icing on the cake that people will also notice is the jewelry that may complement, contrast and even complete the entire package. The objective is that when a person walks away after interacting with you, they remember you and how you made them feel. My jewelry helps in accomplishing that goal. I remember Maya Angelou’s quote and applied the concept to the art of my creations. “People might not remember your name, but they will remember how you made them feel.” Of course my objective is for you to remember Valerie Valentina Creations, but my ultimate goal is for you to remember how my pieces make you and the people who notice you, feel. The Stones that are placed in my jewelry and the Valentina designs I create are the key elements to my success. The beauty of precious stones is secondary to the spiritual meaning and significance to each piece I create. My foundation for jewelry making started with the telephone man who would often give me copper wiring that was flexible enough to mold into various designs. Another element of my creativity was the art of finding interesting stones that I could equate to significant backstories that would match their beauty and colorful brilliance. I took on the philosophy of the Zimbabwe Shona tribe who believe that every stone has a sprit and image associated with it and they just have to unfold the image imbedded in the rock. When I combine my stones with my creative and colorful wires, each creation is it’s own masterpiece and one of a kind. The healing powers of the stones and inspirational philosophies have made my art a hit because of the beauty and backstory. I have found that the stones that have been the most popular with my customers have varied. However, I find that people often select my pieces based on the look, beauty, information and spirit associated with each stone. The beauty of the piece is high on their list but the background information, philosophy and history of the stones not only add to the emotional feeling that one has when they wear it, but the talking points have definitely added value. Some of the stones I use and that have proven to be most popular are: (Jasper, Obsidian, Turquoise) Some of the jewelry is made from buttons. These wearable art pieces are unique as the buttons that are spotlighted. My unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry is made from vintage buttons with wire, some wonderful gems, and most are vintage elements from the 1920s and 1940s.
Each button is lovingly wire-wrapped with my creative design methodologies to give strength to each button on the assembly side. Because the process is enjoyable for me, I love what I do and the work is exemplified in the end product. Each original pin, brooch or necklace takes hours and sometimes days to create. All of my vintage pieces are made in the U.S.A. by myself and are one-of-a-kind. My original artwork and jewelry, coupled with your individuality makes the combination special and will assure that you stand out as the beautiful individual that you are. If you don’t feel good about what you wear, what’s the point? I fully embody the philosophy that the art, creative nature and eclectic vibe of my hometown of San Francisco where I have learned to envision the products, make the patterns for production and create the prototypes for my designs. I can truly say that for the last 45 years I have perfected the art of my Jewelry making process and clothing designs. The smiles and accolades have shown me that I have blessed a number of my customers with excellent clothing, jewelry and accessories. My customers know that they are not just acquiring product but are buying a “feeling.”
