I have been drawing, painting, creating and discovering with different media throughout my life. I enjoy getting lost in the process and trying to find what I am looking for. Time just seems to vanish as I set off on these magnificent journeys. Often I am not sure where to begin or what I need to do to convey certain moods or feelings in my paintings. What I am sure of is to trust the process.
Recently, I have been painting with watercolor and have made it my friend. I enjoy discovering the subtleties and nuances of color which can be attained, varying brush techniques and the magic of the water. It allows me to express my vision and what I feel and experience in certain landscapes. I believe there is a dynamic interaction between the artist and the painting, a sort of communication that allows an idea to be presented on the paper and for the paper to reveal the mark. It is important just how the mark is painted so as to convey the correct sense to the viewer just as a writer writes for the reader to understand a certain idea. I try to capture the fine details of my experience with paint such as the fog, cool wind amidst the warm patches of stillness, the various shades of color, the smell of the trees, grass or ocean. It is my quest and what I am intrigued with. I am inspired by the constant beauty of the natural landscapes in San Francisco and the Northern coastline along with the influences of time of day and weather. I hope to share my passion captured in paintings mostly local sites which have been glanced hundreds of times.
