WEEKEND 4: SOMA
NOV 2-3, NORTH
San Francisco, CA 94103
Change promotes growth. I have found this to be true for me personally and artistically. Two of the biggest evolutions in my work have been a result of a dramatic change in my life: when I moved to San Francisco from Indiana, and when my father was suddenly diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disorder. These observational paintings connect personal experience and emotional health with my physical surroundings, specifically the ocean. The natural world around me helps inform me of certain truths I need reminding of in times of anxiety, heartbreak, and pain. The abundance of life clinging to the rocks during low tide is both mesmerizing and revelatory. The ocean is ancient, life-giving, God's gift to humankind - in more ways than one.
I work out of my home studio in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco.
