As an extrovert in a complex world trying to find stillness, I explore themes of observation, communication, and ritual. With luminous surfaces, I capture the belonging I feel in nature as a way to pace myself in this modern life. I savor the physicality of encaustic painting- construction, fire, carving, and rebuilding- as it relates to my formal training as a metalsmith and working with my hands as a midwife. I know my work is complete when it feels familiar and sensual and evokes connectedness. My studio is at the Norton Factory Studios in Oakland, CA, and I’m happy to be showing at Room & Board in SOMA for Weekend 3 of SFOS 2024. October 5 from 10 - 6 and October 6 from 11- 6.
