WEEKEND 1: SOMA

My paintings and drawings are about the transformative healing energy that is abundant in the universe. Early in 2007 I embarked on a spiritual journey, which lead me to discover the healing arts. I found this journey to be extremely exhilarating. As I continued on this path something wonderful happened. I watched my work change before my eyes, it appeared that the same energies I used in healing sessions began to take shape in my paintings. Now in 2015, a mystical, spiritual, otherworldly element is clearly present in my work.
My focus now is about how this magical energy connects us all. How we are all made of the same stuff, and about how we are connected to nature. With this in mind the “tree-people” were born. They are about Oneness - humanity and nature intertwined. They are symbolic of our connection to each other and to our world.
The paintings are all made of fabric that is hand sewn together, then they are painted and photographs are added. The drawings are all hand-stitched paper. I love the idea of thread connecting the piece, representing the invisible thread that connects us all.
I have been told that people can feel energy just by looking at them. The work seems to bypass rational thought and speak to people on an energetic non-rational level.
I graduated from Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts, New Brunswick, NJ. My work has been exhibited in cities across the country from New York to San Francisco. In addition to being an artist, I am certified in five different healing modalities: Reiki Master/Teacher, Karuna Master/Teacher, Seichem Sekham Master/Teacher, Advanced Pranic Healer, and Reconnective Healer.
