Zoya Scholis is an abstractionist. Her work reflects years of experimentation with various mixed media processes that are now integral to her style. With spontaneous philosophical inquiry as her underlying motivation, she manipulates the surface to introduce elements of randomness. As with most contemporary painters the influence of great 20th and 21st century abstractionists from Kandinsky to Klee is evident.
Scholis, best known for her work in Watercolor, has shown paintings throughout the U.S. and won numerous awards. In her work is always evidence of an exploration of the psyche and an experiment with the divine.
