Artist Statement

My process begins with sheets of metal, such as brass, steel or aluminum.  Next, using household cleansers, organic patterns evolve as I work the metallic surface in multiple layers.  The resulting patinas become part of abstract metal wall sculptures that are formed by being crushed and bent by hand.  I want the resulting work to invite meditation or pull the viewer into a universe that can suggest either the micro or macro dimensions of our world.
