Artist Statement

My recent body of work is titled "Spirit Boats". The imagery I use deals with shapes that symbolize boats for travel and transformation. Paintings give me a chance to move color around in various media to find balance between form and space.
It has been rewarding to work in a series: constructing a variety of sculptural boats as an installation. Viewers are invited to walk between and under the hanging forms.
Boats are easy to understand and recognize which helps connect the viewer and the art.
