Elizabeth Saviano

Artist Statement

Elizabeth Saviano began drawing and painting as a very young child. Sidetracked into the fields of medicine and law, she is now emerging as an abstract painter. Largely self-taught in the fields of art history, fine arts and photography, she began painting seriously eight years ago. Although she has no formal arts education, she has participated in several painting and sculpture workshops primarily studying abstract acrylic painting and collage with Lauryn Taylor in Carmel, California. She counts among her many artistic influences Mark Rothko, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Marc Chagall, Frank Stella, Alexander Calder, Picasso, folk artists and modern architects.

Working principally in mixed media and acrylics, her vision is simply to create kinetic pieces using texture and light, often incorporating both organic and industrial forms to acknowledge their co-existence in our world. She enjoys the physical process and musicality of painting.

Her body of work, in part, is represented by Terry Ross of Ross Contemporary.
