Artist Statement

It has been said that creating is a collaborative process between the artist and his or her soul; an intimate relationship in which both are continually transformed. My relationship with my art is what grounds me; it is my medicine.

Like the rings on a tree or the earth’s strata, the layers are records of my experiences. Every piece of art I create is an autobiographical snapshot of a specific point in time. The shapes, as well as the color in my work represent the conscious and subconscious and our internal and external struggles.

I paint and print with water soluble oils and embellish the final piece with pastels or pencil.
