Artist Statement

This will be my 6th year participating with Open Studios. My primary medium is oil painting and my secondary is needlepoint.

Over the 13 years that I have been exploring oils, I have focused my efforts primarily on process and result. Currently, I have been working on the effects of gravity, tilt, and various levels of thickness in paint to create.

In the past year, I custom-built a 4-towered easel, which provides the flexibility to alter the tilt and pitch of a canvas in any direction. This opened up my efforts to push the boundaries of a gravity-related painting process further than before.

The easel is set up to catch any excess turpentine that might roll off the canvas, and allow me to reuse rather than waste it.

I show around the Bay Area primarily and have sold more than 70 pieces. My work is currently in private collections around the world, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Phoenix, Denver, Oakland, Reno, Detroit, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Pittsburgh, Richmond, London, and Prague.
