As a middleschooler in a small town in Norway, I was allowed one week of work experience. My experience was working in a laboratory where glass laboratory equipment was made. What could be more fun than playing with glass and fire? I loved it! My coworkers were less impressed when on my last day I reached in front of a flame and watched my skin shrivel. I however, remember the week with great fondness.
Years later as this experience was eclipsed by new life events(meeting my soulmate, graduate school, children) I found an opportunity to rekindle my interest in glass by taking glass fusing classes. At first I was a bit intimidated by scoring and breaking glass, but I soon got over it and pursued my glass studies with great rigor, taking glass workshops. around the country with experts in their field.  After I learned each new technique I eagerly returned to my studio to explore the techniques limitations and possibilities, as I developed my own sense of design.
Functional fused and etched glass is my primary love. My focus is making home accents that add novelty to our everyday lives. I am strongly influenced by the natural world and the simple lines of my Scandanavian heritage as well as the exquisite beauty inherent in Japanese design.
I hope that you enjoy my work as much as I love making it.
